Terry Dean McCarty, 65, of Ashland passed away Tuesday evening, October 6, at his home surrounded by his loved ones while under hospice care.
Terry was born May 25, 1955 in Paintsville, Kentucky, son of the late Joe and June LeMaster McCarty. He was a retired carman with CSX after 39 years of service. Terry was a devoted husband, father, poppy to his grandchildren, and “Mr. Fix It” to all who knew and loved him.
Terry was preceded in death by his sister, Eva Meenach, and brother Sheran McCarty.
Surviving is his loving wife of 46 years, Dorothy ‘Dot’ Church McCarty; son, Josh McCarty and wife Stacy, of Catlettsburg; daughter, Carrie Price and husband Tim, of Ashland; three brothers, Neil McCarty and wife Licia, of Winchester; Dwight McCarty and wife Wendy, of Louisville; and Bo McCarty and wife Lucinda, of Grayson; a sister, Patty Sennett and husband Scott, of Bellefonte; four grandchildren, Karli and Callie Jo McCarty; Graycin and Brycen Price, Terry’s loyal dog, Brody; and he leaves behind a host of many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Funeral services were conducted by Pastor Kevin Shearer on Friday, October 9 at Preston Family Funeral Home. Burial followed in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.
