Five Students Graduate from Holy Family Collegiate High School

 

 

   Ashland Community and Technical College would like to congratulate the five students from Holy Family Collegiate High School who graduated last month.

   Carter Abshire, Ashley Sanchez, Ryleigh Campbell, Emily Manson, and Chase Gibeaut each graduated with a high school diploma from Holy Family and associate degrees from their respective ACTC programs.

   These students began their coursework at ACTC after successfully completing their sophomore year of high school. At ACTC, they attended classes taught by ACTC instructors with other students enrolled at the college.

   “One thing we pride ourselves on at Ashland Community and Technical College is the opportunities we have available for high school students to take college courses,” said Dr. Larry Ferguson, ACTC President/CEO. “In 2014, Holy Family Catholic School formed a collegiate high school, in conjunction with ACTC, to give students the opportunity to simultaneously earn a high school diploma and a community college degree. We are proud to have Holy Family students attend and graduate from ACTC and look forward to seeing all their future successes.”

   Graduating students included:

   Carter Ray Abshire – Valedictorian, graduated with a high school diploma from Holy Family Collegiate High School, plus an Associate in Science degree and an Associate in Arts degree from ACTC.   Carter was this year’s Holy Family WSAZ Best of the Class representative.  He was a Key Club Officer and member of the Holy Family chapter of The National Honor Society.  Carter has been accepted into the Space Systems engineering program at Morehead State University and has received $12,800 in scholarship money to date.

   Ashley Monserat Sanchez – Salutatorian, graduated with a high school diploma from Holy Family Collegiate High School, plus an Associate in Science degree from ACTC.  Ashley was a member of the Holy Family Key Club and a member of the Holy Family chapter of The National Honor Society. She was also a member of Phi Theta Kappa and the National Society of Leadership and Success at ACTC. Ashley will further her education at Morehead State University or Berea College in the fall.

   Ryleigh Nicole Campbell – Graduated with a high school diploma from Holy Family Collegiate High School, plus an Associate in Science degree and an Associate in Arts degree from ACTC.  Ryleigh was a member of the Holy Family Key Club and the Holy Family Chapter of the National Honor Society.  She will attend the University of Kentucky in the fall.

   Emily Renee Manson – Graduated with a high school diploma from Holy Family Collegiate High School, plus an Associate in Arts degree from ACTC.  Emily was a member of the Holy Family Key Club and was the past president.  She was also a member of the Holy Family National Honor Society Chapter.  In addition, Emily was also a member of Phi Theta Kappa and the National Society of Leadership and Success at ACTC.   She would like to attend Morehead State University in the fall.

   Chase Matthew Gibeaut – Graduated with a high school diploma from Holy Family Collegiate High School, plus an Associate in Applied Science degree from ACTC’s Diesel Technology program.  Chase was a member of the Holy Family Key Club and was also a member of the Holy Family Collegiate High School chapter of The National Honor Society.  Chase will continue his career as a diesel mechanic.
