With back-to-school season in full swing, and the mandates in place for all children to wear masks to school, the need to purchase a youth mask that suits individual children’s style is critical. A positive way to encourage children to wear their masks while in class, is to allow their personalities to shine through with a variety of styles and a mask, or masks, that suit them. The Greater Ashland Beacon toured the community to find out exactly what businesses were selling children’s masks, and here are our Editor’s Top 10 picks.

1. Gillum Drug, located at 1237 Carter Avenue, has the largest in-stock selection of fun youth masks. Children’s masks range in animal designs, sport designs, tie dye, fun faces, unicorns, as well as the Editor’s choice, sharks. 2. AXL Creations is an online-only, Worthington-based boutique operated by Angel Sullivan, that specializes in clothing and now, children’s masks. From unicorns to school spirit, AXL Creations is certainly one of the most creative with youth mask designs. The masks range in pricing from $5 to $10 and a name or monogram can be added to the masks as well for an additional $2. 3. The Queen’s Cottage, located at 2033 Main Street in Ashland, has a large selection of youth masks. The masks vary in pricing from packs with two for $9.89, to individual boutique masks ranging from $9.99 to $12.99.   4. Angel Lother Apparel is a Flatwoods-based, online-only boutique that has stolen the show with their selection of children’s masks. From solid designs, to Ashland-Independent School pride, these masks are sure to be a hit with your child. Badger brand gaiters are available for $8, and youth solid color masks are available for $6.    5. Treasures From The Valley, located at 315 Vernon Street in Ironton, Ohio, has a variety of masks for children. Just a quick hop over the bridge, with masks listed online at $5 each. The business can make any school, church, or other design on the masks and certainly shows the most school-pride with their masks.   6. Mike’s Sporting Goods, located at 224 9th Street in Ashland, has placed the list for the most affordable masks around, with adult and youth masks priced at $2.95. In addition, there are three-ply masks available for quantity orders starting at $1.30 up to $2 depending on the quantity ordered. Ashland Independent School masks are available for $7 and the Maroon Badger Gaiter is available for only $6.    7. Russell Middle School Dance Team is working hard to sell masks for their team, so you can purchase a mask that shows Russell Independent School pride, as well as supports a good cause. The masks are a pomchi-brand mask and are breathable and comfortable. The masks are priced at $12 each and lanyards to hold the masks are also available for an additional $5.    8. Melanie’s Bowtique, located at 1536 Winchester Avenue in the Camayo Arcade, is a community favorite for all things bow-tastic and stylish. The boutique, owned by Melanie Tierney, is stepping to the plate once again by ordering in children’s masks so that every child returns to school stylish.
