Shamrock Shenanigans at Camp Landing
St. Patrick’s Day brings to mind several things… wearing green so you don’t get pinched, shamrocks, and leprechauns to name a few. Many places have various celebrations for the day. This year, Camp Landing Entertainment District will hold a free weekend event celebration to commemorate the holiday.
Shamrock Shenanigans will be held at Camp Landing on Friday, March 17 from 5 - 9 p.m. and Saturday, March 18 from noon – 9 p.m. The event will feature a free movie, “Leprechaun” on Friday night at the Cinema at Camp Landing at 9:15, a leprechaun bull riding contest on Saturday at Cowboys and Angels, special food and drinks available for purchase, and live music in the parking lot on both days.
The event was the idea of Jason Camp, owner of Camp Landing and co-owner of Smokin’ J’s Rib and Brewhouse. He had participated in numerous St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in Florida before moving to the area and wanted to bring that kind of celebration here.
“This is a free event that Smokin’ J’s and Camp Landing is bringing to the Tri-State,” said Camp. “We’re excited to bring family-friendly events that everyone can enjoy. We hope to make Shamrock Shenanigans an annual event each year.”
Smokin’ J’s will have a special corned beef and cabbage entrée available for the weekend, along with drink specials, including green beer. There will also be prizes given away from the various businesses at Camp Landing.
The music lineup for the weekend, which is also sponsored by the Boyd County Tourism and Convention Bureau, will be something you won’t want to miss. On Friday night, Devils Creek Special will perform from 6 – 9 pm. The Saturday lineup will begin with Rick Potter and the Westwood Troubadours at noon. Shelby Lore will follow at 2:30, and Josh Brown & the Hard Livin’ Legends will finish out the evening beginning at 6 p.m.
Shelby Lore will be releasing a new single, “Getaway Car,” on Friday, March 17, available on all music streaming platforms. In conjunction with the release, Smokin’ J’s will have a Getaway Car Special drink. The spicy and sweet cocktail is made of dark rum, pineapple, lime, and jalapeño syrup, with chili powder dusting the glass rim. Those who download Shelby Lore’s single can get the $7 drink for the special price of $3.
“‘Getaway Car’ is a high energy song,” said Lore. “It’s about escaping to whatever makes you happy, using your metaphorical “Getaway Car” to get to your happy place. I’m really excited about the single and excited and proud to be a part of the celebration at Camp Landing.”
“In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved inside,” Camp assured. “It will be at the end of the Artsy Fartsy hallway between Cowboys & Angels and CB Bears. We want to invite everyone to come out a be a part of the fun.”
So, for the luck of the Irish, don’t miss the Shamrock Shenanigans St. Patrick’s Day Weekend celebration free event at Camp Landing March 17 -18. And, don’t forget to wear green!
