Ashland 0-2

   The Tomcats opened the season with back-to-back home losses to Rowan County, 10-0, and Huntington 5-4. Ashland looks to pick up its first win this week when they host Paintsville tonight, travel to Cabell Midland Wednesday and faces St. Xavier and Raceland Saturday.

Boyd County 3-0

   The Lions outscored their opponents 24-4 while picking up wins over Cabell Midland, 4-1, Pikeville 8-3 and Prestonburg 12-0 in six innings. Brogan Jones had two doubles and Jacob Vanover knocked in two runs in the win over Cabell. J K McKnight allowed two hits, a run and struck out six in picking up the win.

   Boyd County plays at Greenup County tonight and Morgan County Thursday before competing in the Keith Prater Invitational Friday and Saturday.

Fairview 1-2

   Fairview bounced back from a 13-3 loss to Raceland with a 7-5 win over Morgan County before falling to Lewis County 8-4.

   Xavier Kouns was 3 for 5 with a double and two runs scored against Morgan County. Tanner Johnson went the distance on the mound allowing one earned run and six hits in seven innings.

   The Eagles begin play in the 16th Region All “A” Classic tonight and host Bath County Saturday.

Greenup County 2-1

   Greenup County opened the season with wins over Lawrence County 13-10 and Johnson Central 12-2 before a 17-1 setback to Huntington.

   The Musketeers will host Boyd County tonight and closes out the week against Pikeville.

Raceland 1-1

   The Rams defeated Fairview in six innings 13-3 and fell 2-0 to Huntington. Raceland started play in the 16th Region All “A” Classic last night and will host Ashland and St. Xavier Saturday.

Rose Hill

   The Royals opened their season Monday against Elliott County and will play at Hannan tonight and West Carter Friday.

Russell 1-2

   Matthew Haggard knocked in two runs in the Devils 3-1 win over Bath County. Clark Looney struck out 8 and allowed one run in four innings on the mound and Nathan Totten picked up the win in relief pitching two hitless innings and striking out four.

   Russell fell to 1-2 with losses to East Carter 10-3 and Spring Valley 11-4. Russell faced Rowan County Monday and will start play in the Keith Prater Invitational Friday.
