Red Devils Capture 63rd District Title

RUSSELL 13-5-1
Russell defeated Ashland, 2-1 in the 63rd District Championship game. Ben Totten netted the go-ahead goal late in the second half after a hand ball call gave Russell a free kick. Jeison Benitez Ramires opened the scoring for Russell early in the first half on an assist from Totten. Caden Hampton recorded six saves in the net.
Russell meets Fleming County Tuesday night in the opening round of the 16th Region Tournament at Ashland High School.
ASHLAND 10-6-1
Ashland defeated Boyd County 2-0 in the opening round of the 63rd District Tournament but fell to Russell, 2-1 in the championship.
Nick Parker scored both goals in the win over Boyd. Sawyer Frazier tallied two saves in goal.
Silas Pierzala scored the lone Ashland goal in the loss to Russell on an assist from Troy Barnett. Ashland came up just short of tying the game in the final 10 seconds as a shot at the goal hit the top of the post and fell onto the playing field. Frazier had six saves in the losing effort.
Ashland meets West Carter Tuesday night in the opening round of the 16th Region Tournament at Ashland High School.
BOYD COUNTY 2-9-2
Boyd County fell to Ashland, 2-0 in the opening round of the 63rd District Tournament and ends its season at 2-9-2. Conner Davis tallied six saves in the losing effort.
GREENUP COUNTY 5-14-1
Greenup County fell to West Carter, 4-1 in the opening round of the 62nd District Tournament and ends its season with the loss. Karter Gilliam netted the loan Musketeers goal. Elijah Brown added an assist. Owen Collier tallied 18 saves in goal.
