Boyd County did what Boyd County has been doing for six years.
Win district titles.
Boyd County sprinted out to a 25-12 first set win and never looked back as the Lions dropped the Volleycats in straight sets for their sixth straight 64th District Championship. Taylor Bartrum led the Lions with 22 kills. Audrey Biggs added 13 kills and 10 blocks. Sydney Clark and Payton Jones had four kills each.
No stats were reported from Ashland in the loss.
Boyd County will meet Raceland in the opening round of the 16th Region Volleyball Tournament at Bath County High School. Ashland will meet Fleming County on Tuesday.
BOYD COUNTY 3 FAIRVIEW 0
Taylor Bartrum had 13 kills and Payton Jones added 10 to lead Boyd County to a 3-0 win over Fairview in the opening round of the 64th District Tournament. Boyd County gave up only 22 points in the match.
Madison Loving led the Eagles with five kills.
Fairview closes its season at 4-29
ASHLAND 3 ROSE HILL 0
Ashland held Rose Hill to only five points in the opening set as the Volleycats rolled to a straight set win over the Royals.
Khia Robinson led the Volleycats with 15 kills. Sadie Chaffins added eight kills. Olivia Wiley and Oliva Hutchinson had seven kills each.
Isabel Hensley had three kills for the Royals.
Rose Hill closes its season at 18-13.
63rd DISTRICT
RUSSELL 3 RACELAND 0
The previous two meetings between Russell and Raceland needed five sets to decide the winner.
Russell brought out the brooms in the district championship with a 3-0 win.
Josie Collins led the way with 14 kills. Jaycee Hall, Kennedy Darnell and Carmin Corey each added six kills. Corey had five blocks.
Raceland did not report any stats in the loss.
Russell will meet West Carter in the opening round of the 16th Region Tournament on Tuesday at Bath County High School. Raceland will meet Boyd County in the first game of the event Monday night.
RUSSELL 3 GREENUP COUNTY 1
Greenup County raced out to a 25-18 win in Set 1 over Russell in the opening round of the 63rd District Tournament. But the Devils stormed back with three straight set wins to secure a berth into the regional tournament with a 3-1 win over the Musketeers.
Josie Collins led the Devils with 21 kills and four aces in the win. Carmin Corey added 13 kills and three blocks. Sydney Sizemore had six kills.
Peyton Powell led the Musketeers with 10 kills, five blocks and four aces. Lucy Roy and Hailey Dillow added eight kills each.
Greenup County closes its season at 19-13.
RACELAND 3 LEWIS COUNTY 0
Raceland nearly pitched a shutout in the first set with Lewis County after the Rams limited the Lions to only three points in the frame as they cruised to a straight set win.
Gracie Reed led the way with 10 kills. Skyler Brown-Morris had nine. Shaelee Holbrook slammed down eight and added four kills.
