64th DISTRICT

 

ASHLAND 19-9

Ashland was idle this week in preparation for the 64th District Tournament. Ashland will meet Fairview in the opening round Tuesday night at 7 p.m. The winner will play Boyd County in the championship Thursday night at 7 p.m. Ashland defeated Fairview on Dec. 15, 66-53 in their only meeting this season. Zander Carter led the way with 23 points. Braxton Jennings added 16. Tyson Lalonde had 13. 

BOYD COUNTY 24-6

Boyd County went 2-0 this week with wins over Johnson Central and Greenup County. 

Boyd knocked off Johnson Central, 99-57. Rhett Holbrook and Jacob Spurlock had 23 points each and combined for eight triples. Cole Hicks had 15 points. Jason Ellis netted nine points and 14 rebounds. Alex Martin had eight points and 10 rebounds. 

Spurlock went 7 of 10 from behind the arc and finished with 36 points in the win over Greenup. Drew Smith had 13, Hicks 11 and Griffin Taylor 10. Ellis collected his 1,000th rebound.

Boyd awaits the winner of Ashland and Fairview in the 64th District Championship on Thursday night at 7 p.m.

FAIRVIEW 8-22

Fairview went 1-2 this week with a win over Adams County Christian, WV and losses to Raceland and West Carter. 

Four players finished in double figures in the Eagles 100-47 win over Adams County Christian. Tamel Smith led the way with 25 points while going 7 of 11 from downtown. Tevin Smith kicked in 20. Steven Day added 18 points. Roman Mayes finished with 10. 

Fairview fell to Raceland, 104-67 and West Carter, 61-54. No stats were reported. 

Fairview meets Ashland in the opening round of the 64th District Tournament Tuesday night at 7 p.m. Fairview fell to Ashland on Dec. 15, 66-53. Day paced the Eagles with 22 points. Smith kicked in 14. 

ROSE HILL 8-15

Rose Hill defeated Adams County Christian 58-46 and fell to Convenant to close out the season at 8-15.

63rd DISTRICT

 

RUSSELL 16-11

Russell went 0-2 this week to close the regular season with losses to East Carter and Rowan County. 

Russell fell to East, 57-42. Elijah Neel had 17 for the Devils. Caleb Rimmer added 16. 

Russell came up short to Rowan, 73-63. Rimmer had 21 in the loss. Neel had 13.

Russell meets Raceland Monday night at 7 p.m. in the opening round of the 63rd District Tournament at Greenup. Russell took both meetings from Raceland in the regular season. Russell defeated Raceland 69-65 at the Palace and had a 58-55 come-from-behind win at the Marv. 

RACELAND 16-14

Raceland went 1-1 this week with a win over Fairview and an overtime loss to Lawrence County. 

Raceland dropped Fairview, 104-67 as the Rams surpassed the century mark for the first time since 2012. Christian Large led the Rams with 34 points and tallied his 1,00th career point in the win. Connor Thacker added 12 points and 12 rebounds. Jonah Arnett finished with 11. Conner Sutton had 10. 

Raceland fell in overtime to Lawrence, 88-87. No stats were reported in the loss. 

Raceland meets Russell in the opening round of the 63rd District Tournament at Greenup Monday night at 7 p.m. Raceland fell in both meetings to Russell in the regular season. Raceland lost 69-65 at home and 58-55 at Russell. 

GREENUP COUNTY 16-14

 

Greenup went 1-1 this week with a win 60-48 win over West Carter and a 96-61 loss to Boyd County. Bryson Chandley led the Musketeers with 18 points against Boyd. Bradley Adkins added 15 and Eli Adkins pitched in 11. 

Greenup will play Lewis County Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the opening round of the 63rd District Tournament. Greenup split with Lewis in the regular season with both teams winning on their home floor. Greenup defeated Lewis 51-35 at home and fell 56-53 in Vanceburg.
