The Russell Lady Devils fell behind early and struggled with early foul issues as they fell to the eventual state champion runner up, McCracken County, 50-33.

The Mustangs raced out to a 17-9 lead after Russell was forced to turn to its bench with Shaelyn Steele and Bella Quinn each picking up two fouls in the opening minutes of the contest.

Russell was held to only five points in the second quarter and trailed by 11 at the break. The Lady Devils only connected on 2 of 21 from behind the arc and shot 26.1percent for the game.

16th Region player of the year Steele led the Devils with 15 points and nine rebounds in her final game after rewriting the record books over her storied career. Kennedy Darnell kicked in 11 points to round out the double-digit scoring for the Devils.

Russell closed its season at 28-7.
