64th District

Ashland 4-5

The Kittens opened the week with back-to-back losses in Myrtle Beach to Maumee 12-8 and Niagara-Wheatfield 8-1 before rebounding with wins over Swanton, Ohio 13-0 and Independence, WV 13-6. 

Grace Delaney, Brookelyn Duckwyler, Alauna Troxler and Jenna Delaney each had two RBIs against Maumee. Addi Laine tripled and knocked in two against Swanton. Laine also allowed only three hits and struck out three in the five-inning shutout. 

Duckwyler went 3 for 5 with three RBIs including a double and triple in the win over Independence. Laine had three RBIs and Nicco Romans scored three times.

Ashland was at Spring Valley Monday and at home the rest of week starting Tuesday against Fleming County, Greenup County Wednesday, Scott WV Friday, and Saturday verses Huntington and Belfry in the Tri-State Showcase.

Boyd County 

Boyd County opened the week on fire in Myrtle Beach winning their first six games before dropping a 4-3 decision to Egg Harbor Township, NJ. 

Elyn Simpkins struck out five and allowed one run in seven innings in a 6-1 win over Niagara-Wheatfield. Simpkins struck out six and allowed no runs on three hits in seven innings in the Lady Lions’ 5-0 win against Letcher County Central. 

Gracie Gilbert knocked in three in an 8-5 win over Monroeville, Ohio.

Boyd County mercied Wilson, NY 20-3 in five innings while pounding out 19 hits. Lacyn Black and Jaycie Goad each had three hits and three RBIs. Savanna Henderson and Myla Hamilton also added three RBIs. 

Boyd County will be at Wheelersburg Tuesday, Ironton Thursday and at home for the Tri-State Showcase Saturday with games against Scott, Frederick Douglas and Notre Dame. 

Fairview 7-3

The Lady Eagles were idle last week and took a two-game winning streak into its contest against Elliott County Monday night in the 16th Region All “A” Classic. 

Fairview will face Glenwood, Ohio at home Friday. 

63rd District

Greenup County 9-2

Greenup County was a perfect 4-0 last week in Pigeon Forge, TN. With wins over Williamsburg 15-0, Atherton 18-2, Lynn Camp 8-0 and Independence 7-4. 

Madison Ross had four RBIs and scored three runs against Williamsburg. Laiken Cooper struck out seven and allowed no runs in the three-inning mercy rule win.

Josey Kegley knocked in four runs in the win over Atherton. 

Kegley struck out 12 in a seven inning no hitter against Lynn Camp. Skyler Lawrence had four RBIs. 

Greenup County faces Rowan County Tuesday in the Kentucky 2A-Section 6 tournament and at Ashland Wednesday. They will then participate in the Tri-State Showcase with games against Lincoln County at Russell Friday, Lawrence County at Boyd County and George Rogers at Russell Saturday. 

Raceland 12-2

Raceland went undefeated in the Florida Softball Beach Bash at Ft. Walton Beach last week and improved to 12-2 on the season.

The Lady Rams picked up wins over Henry County 5-1, Corbin 6-2, Middlesboro 3-2, South Oldham 5-3, Owensboro 16-0 and Russell County 6-4. No stats were reported.

Raceland is at Huntington Wednesday before hosting the Tri-State Showcase with games against Symmes Valley and Lincoln County Friday and Boyle County Saturday. 

Russell 9-3

Russell opened with three straight wins in Myrtle Beach against Wilson Hall 12-0, Otsego 7-5 and Wilson, NY 14-1 before suffering a 14-2 loss to Aynor, SC. No stats were reported on the KHSAA website.

Russell faces Dawson Bryant Tuesday, welcomes Lewis County Thursday and plays host in the Tri-State Showcase to Huntington Friday, George Rogers and Lincoln County Saturday.
