Centre Stage Fitness and Event Center was born when Jessica Ortiz decided that after teaching fitness classes for nine years at different facilities, she wanted something steady.

In March 2018, Ortiz took a chance and opened for business at 2126 Winchester Avenue in Ashland.

She offers three types of exercise classes and has a room for children to hang out in while their parents focus on the class. Each class has approximately 10 to 20 people that attend.

“I love the small classes because it helps me focus on the beginners as well as provide my regulars with a productive workout,” Ortiz said.

R.I.P.P.E.D, which stands for Resistance, Intervals, Power, Plyometric and Endurance, is the one stop body shock! “This class is a total body, high-intensity style workout utilizes free weights, resistance, and body weight that is good for not only cardio but also for toning,” said Ortiz.

Cardio Kickboxing is a class that focuses, of course, on cardio. Ortiz said, “this class involves a lot of movement.”

According to Ortiz her most fun class is Zumba. “Zumba involves dance and aerobic movements performed to energetic music,” stated Ortiz. “If you like to dance and have fun while exercising, this is the class for you.”

Melinda Chapman, who is regular to the classes at Centre Stage Fitness, said, “I love these exercise classes. Jessica will work with anybody from beginners to pros to make sure that they are getting the most out of their workout. You will definitely feel the burn when you are finished.”

The cost for classes is $3.25 per class or unlimited classes for $58. If someone is just interested in the Zumba classes it cost $42 a month for unlimited classes.

Ortiz also rents out the facility for parties. “The rent is $37.50 an hour and we only currently have a refrigerator. I am working on installing a sink that will make clean up easier,” said Ortiz.

For party renters, Ortiz requires a $100 deposit which includes tables and chairs. “After the event, if everything found to be cleaned, then they will receive the deposit back minus the rental fee,” stated Ortiz.

   The current class schedule is:

•    Monday and Wednesday - R.I.P.P.E.D at 5:45 p.m. and Zumba at 6:45 p.m.; and

•    Tuesday and Thursday – Cardio Kickboxing at 5:45 p.m. and Zumba at 6:45 p.m.
