A Ghostly Business Idea

Ghostly Gourmet, owned by Bobby Lege, is a small business based out of Catlettsburg that began its journey approximately three-and-a-half years ago.

“We started out as a small business, originally entering the market under the Cottage Laws, as a small home-based business, and we are also a Veteran Owned Business,” said Lege. “We grew our own hot peppers and things of that nature. I knew there were products out there, but I knew I could do it better.”

Lege then expanded to get his commercial license through the University of Kentucky to go through the next level.

“It took about a year,” said Lege. “I went through these courses offered by UK, and completed the last one in December of 2019.”

Ghostly Gourmet is known for putting a unique spin and kick in its products, which encases everything from gourmet sauces, to pickles and salsas.

“It is very exciting for me because it is a passion for me, it is something I enjoy doing,” said Lege.

Lege was in the United States Army, in Military Intelligence, and served from 1982 to 1989. “After my active service, I offered to go back through the United States Army and United States Marine Corp,” said Lege. “I’ve actually been in the restaurant business since then, except the years I spent in active duty.”

Lege said not only is respect for veterans something important to his business, but so is his Christian Faith. “It’s important to me, and my wife Mary, and my family,” said Lege.

Lege said that his participation in a local BNI group has also been impactful for him. “For me to be successful, I have to make the people around me successful,” said Lege.

Lege is also on the cusp of a new expansion. “Our next chapter that I am pursuing will be still under Ghostly Gourmet, but will be a catering division,” said Lege. “It’s already in the process of launching.”

Lege said that his hope is to be impactful to the community. “This is a small, veteran owned business,” said Lege. “To be able to share and love other people and just be successful, we want to be a pillar in the community.”

Ghostly Gourmet is located at 5507 Cannonsburg Road, Catlettsburg, KY and can also be shopped online at ghostlygourmet.com and on social media.

“We are on social media, with Instagram and Facebook,” said Lege. “ProStar Designs has just designed our website, which is ghostlygourmet.com.”
