Dancing With Our Stars Feb. 1


   The Highlands Museum & Discovery Center is excited to announce the seventh annual Dancing with Our Stars scheduled for February 1, 2020 at the Boyd County Community Center (15605 KY-180, Catlettsburg.) Dancing with Our Stars features local celebrities partnered with professional dancers competing for $1 votes to win the famous Mirror Ball Trophy. This event has been extremely successful, and hopefully, it will be great again this year.

   This year’s celebrity dancers and their partners are:


Couple No. 1

Danielle Mason is a former elementary school teacher turned stay-at-home mom. She lives in Russell with her celebrity dancer and husband Griffin and son, Brady.

Griffin Mason is the Marine Repair Facility Manager at Marathon Marine in Cattletsburg. Married since 2008 to his dancing partner Danielle, the two have a 10-year-old son, Brady.


Couple No. 2

David Markins is from Ironton, Ohio. He is a state and national baton twirling champion from Cyndis Studio of Baton and Dance in Ironton. David is a 3-year Marshall University Majorette and one of the current Marching Thunder Majorette Captains. He also manages Island Heat Tanning Salon in Ohio.

Missy Rooper is the Chief Speech-Language Pathologist at Pathway’s Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities. Missy also owns and manages her own business, Rooper Speech Therapy Services, LLC. Missy received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Marshall University, where she was also a co-ed cheerleader for the Thundering Herd. Missy and her husband have chosen to make Ashland their home where they plan to raise their son and have vowed to do their part in helping to Build Ashland.


Couple No. 3

Tyler Borders is a graduate of Boyd County and Morehead State University. He is married to his beautiful wife, Emily and they have two boys under the age of 3, Landon and Logan. He has worked the family business, Borders Sporting Goods, full time since graduating from Morehead about 15 years ago. Tyler loves to spend time with his family and friends and has a passion for the outdoors.

Emily Borders graduated from Boyd County High School, then attended UK where she had the privilege to be a UK cheerleader while majoring in Elementary Education. She started teaching in 2011 and then completed her Masters Degree in Teacher Leadership from Morehead State University. She is a proud former student and current third grade teacher at Ponderosa Elementary. Her very favorite thing to do in the world is to spend time with her wonderful husband, Tyler, and their two precious boys Landon and Logan.


Couple No. 4

Jessica Lucas-Adkins is the co-owner/operator of The BlackHorse Farm, Diamond Links Golf Course and Buddy’s Clubhouse Grill. Jessica serves on the Boyd County Tourism + Convention Bureau.

Chris Adkins is a nation-wide contractor for Tesla. He also owns and operates The BlackHorse Farm, Diamond Links Golf Course and Buddy’s Clubhouse Grill with Jessica.   


Couple No. 5

Kendall Ymalay is a native of New Orleans, where she studied dance at New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts and did both high school and community theatre. She graduated from Saint Mary’s College with bachelors degree in Social Work and Communication, then got  her Masters degree in Social Work from Louisiana State University. Kendall practiced as a social worker/therapist until she got her hardest job ... Mother.  She is currently mom to two sweet kids and has lived in Ashland for 5 years with her family. 

Ramon Ymalay is a native Kentuckian and is a Russell Red Devil for life.  He is a Neonatologist and the Medical Director of the KDMC Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Ramon is also an avid global traveler, photographer, and Notre Dame fan.  His lone stint in the public spotlight was as the NICU Ninja on the TV Show, American Ninja Warrior.  He enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife, Kendall, and two children, Zack, and Lucy, and his two dogs, Gipper and Scully.


Couple No. 6

Eric and Megan Chaney have been married for 5 years and are the proud parents of an 18-month-old baby girl named Brenleigh.  Both are employed at Marathon Petroleum Company.  Eric ventured into the world of politics and is now the Judge Executive for Boyd County.


Couple No. 7

Alice Martin is a graduate of Boyd County, and KY Banking School. She has been a banker for 22 years and is employed at KY Farmers Bank as the Ashland Branch Manager. She enjoys spending time with her family, shopping and traveling. She is the President-Elect of the Ashland Rotary Club and serves on the OLBH Auxiliary Board. Alice resides in Worthington with her husband Steve, her stepson Steven and their Goldendoodle, Maci.

Garrett Campbell  is from Catlettsburg; this is his fourth year performing in “Dancing with Our stars” for the Highlands Museum. He has previously performed in musical theater on the Paramount stage, and ACTC theater. He studied dance at “Yvonne Dekay school of Dance” in Ironton, OH.


Couple No. 8

Elisabeth Camp was born and raised in Florida.   She graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Business Administration. After working in corporate banking she decided to get her graduate degree in Communicative Disorders at East Carolina University to become a Speech Language Pathologist. She built a successful Speech Therapy private practice in Florida for 6 years.  After moving with her family to the Ashland area in early 2018, she recently opened a private practice in Ashland; Tri-State Speech Therapy.  The job she is most proud of though is being Mom to the 5 kids aged 12-18.

Jason Camp is a Florida native that was born and raised in Miami. After graduating from the University of Florida, Jason spent the next 17 years in professional sports. He worked in the MLB, NFL, NHL, and was a Tournament Director on The PGA Tour.  In order to stay home with his family more, he opened his own event firm, Big C Events.  Jason and his family moved to Ashland in early 2018.  He is CEO/Owner of The 3J Group which has opened The Winchester Steak, Seafood & Bourbon Bar and Smokin’ J’s Rib & Brewhouse.  Father of 4 sons and a daughter, Jason & his wife, Elisabeth love to call the Tri-State area their new hometown!


   Our dancers and their partners have been practicing diligently and are ecstatic for the big night.    Dancing with Our Stars includes a cocktail hour with a gourmet dinner catered by The Winchester. The competition begins at 8 p.m. followed by dancing to music performed by Premier Entertainment.
