The 64th District had been in full control by Boyd County for the past six years.
Ashland was not about to let it become seven after they defeated Boyd County 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-23) to take their first district championship since 2017.
Ashland took the first two sets 25-14 and 25-21 but had to rally from a 20-17 deficit in the third set. Sydney Mertz’s kill gave Ashland a 25-23 win and the 64th District Title.
Peyton Jones led the Lions with 12 kills. Hallie Barnett tallied seven kills and four blocks. Sophia Clark added six.
Boyd County will meet Raceland Monday night to open the 16th Region Tournament. Ashland will meet Fleming County Tuesday night. All games will be played at Morgan County High School.

ASHLAND 3 ROSE HILL 0
Ashland stormed to the district championship with a 3-0 (25-9, 25-12, 25-11) win over Rose Hill.
Mena Pittman led the Ashland with 11 kills. Olivia Wiley had nine kills and five aces. Grace Clark had four aces with Ashland tallying 16 as a team. Abigail Justus led the Royals with six kills and a pair of blocks.
Rose Hill closes the season at 3-22.
BOYD COUNTY 3 FAIRVIEW 0
Boyd County rolled past Fairview 3-0 (25-12, 25-8, 25-9) to punch the Lions ticket to the district championship.
Peyton Jones led the Lions with 10 kills. Reagan Queen had seven. Hallie Barnett finished with six. Madison Loving led the Eagles with four kills. Makenzi Slone had three.
Fairview closes the season at 8-21.

RACELAND 3 RUSSELL 0
It had been since 2017 since Russell had lost a set in a district championship. It had been since 2015 since Raceland had beaten Russell in a district tournament contest.
The Rams erased both with a dominating 3-0 (25-19, 27-25, 25-20) win over Russell to secure their seventh district championship. Allayson Rigby led the Rams with 20 kills and a pair of blocks. Annie Bradshaw had five kills. Peyton Mackie finished with four.
Carmin Corey led the Devils with 12 kills. Kennedy Darnell added six. Jaycee Hall and Sydney Sizemore finished with five. Emmy Holley had four aces.
Raceland will open the 16th Region Tournament Monday night against Boyd County. Russell will play East Carter Tuesday night. All games will be played at Morgan County High School.

RUSSELL 3 LEWIS COUNTY 0
Carmin Corey was a one-woman wrecking machine against Lewis County. Corey delivered 11 aces along with nine kills to lead Russell over Lewis, 3-0 (25-15, 25-9, 25-11). Kennedy Darnell led Russell with 10 kills. Sydney Sizemore added nine. Jaycee Hall finished with eight kills and three blocks.
RACELAND 3 GREENUP COUNTY 2
It was the third edition of a heavyweight battle that had gone to five sets in the previous two meetings between Raceland and Greenup County.
The third meeting would be no different. Trailing 2-1 in the match, Raceland battled back to secure a berth in the district title game with a 3-2 (15-25, 25-18, 21-25, 25-18, 15-9) thrilling win over Greenup. Allayson Rigsby led the way with 18 kills for the Rams. Kiya Noble kicked in 10 kills. Savannah Zewald tallied six along with four aces.
Peyton Powell led the Musketeers with 18 kills and six blocks. Kaylee Braden put down 11. Lucy Roy had seven kills.
Greenup County closes the season at 20-11.
