In the heart of Ashland Kentucky, a community known for its creative citizens and strong ties, one local business owner is on a mission to celebrate the heroes among us. Ashley Perdue has turned her lifelong passion for crafting into a successful small business, Ashley’s Corner, where she creates custom shadow boxes that honor the first responders and veterans who serve our community.
Perdue’s crafting journey began as a hobby and a personal tribute to her late mother, who passed away in 2016. What started out as a way to keep her mother’s memory alive quickly blossomed into something much larger, beginning with custom orders from close friends and family. From there, her business just keeps growing, garnering much appreciated support from the community.
Coming from a long line of veterans and engaged to a member of the Ashland Police Department, Perdue felt a deep calling to honor those who dedicate their lives to serving others.
“I have always supported first responders and veterans, so I wanted a different way to show my support,” she explains. This passion has become the foundation of Ashley's Corner, where each piece is crafted with love and intention.
Launched nearly a year ago, Ashley's Corner started as a booth in the far corner of a local craft fair, which is where her father came up with the business name. Since then, it has evolved into a local gem known for a variety of handmade gifts, including ornaments, keychains, glass cups, and, of course, her signature shadow boxes.
Each item is uniquely designed to capture the essence of its subject, making them perfect keepsakes for those who wish to honor their loved ones. “I enjoy getting to meet people and hear their stories.” Perdue shared. She encourages anyone with an idea for a custom product to reach out – she is more than willing to help bring those visions to life. Community support plays a pivotal role in the success of Ashley’s Corner and other small businesses in Ashland.
