ASHLAND 0-2

 

Ashland fell to No. 1 team in the state, Great Crossing, 95-89 in overtime to open the season and followed with a 76-69 loss at Hazard. Zander Carter led the Tomcats with 29 points in the loss to Great Crossing. The War Hawks connected on a three to send the game into overtime as time expired in regulation.

 

Ashland meets Boyd County Tuesday in Cannonsburg, welcomes Fairview Friday and plays Archbishop Alter, OH at Shawnee State Saturday.

 

BOYD COUNTY 3-0

Boyd County opened the season with three wins, defeating Lewis County 72-65, Greenup County 86-50 and Lanham Christian, MD 71-54.

 

Clark Huff and Jacob Spurlock led Boyd with 16 points against Lewis. Cole Hicks kicked in 15. Jackson Childers had 11. Rhett Holbrook added eight points and eight rebounds.

 

Spurlock led the Lions with 33 points and eight rebounds in the win over Greenup. Hicks threw in 15. Huff had 10. Boyd hit 14 triples in the win.

 

Spurlock paced the Lions with 28 points and 16 rebounds in the win over Lanham Christian. Jackson Childers had 12 points and eight boards. Marcus Brumfield tallied 11 rebounds.

 

Boyd welcomes Ashland Tuesday, meets Springdale Prep, MD Friday in Knoxville and Buckhorn, AL in Knoxville Saturday.

 

FAIRVIEW 0-3

 

Fairview opened the season with losses to Elliott County 59-40, West Carter 56-53 and Greenup County, 60-48.

 

Eli Shope led the Eagles with 12 points in the loss to Elliott. Aiden Daily kicked in eight. Tevin Smith had seven.

 

Fairview visits Ashland Friday night in their only game this week.

 

63RD DISTRICT

 

GREENUP COUNTY 1-2

Greenup opened the season with losses to Fleming County, 70-38, Boyd County, 86-50 and a 60-48 win over Fairview

 

Bryson Chandley led the Musketeers with 17 points against Boyd. Casey Gammon pitched in eleven.

 

Greenup meets Bath County Tuesday in the EKC Semifinals and welcomes Johnson Central Friday night.

 

RACELAND 2-0

 

Raceland opened the season with a pair of wins over West Carter, 58-51 and Letcher County Central, 65-60.

 

Raceland erased an 11-point deficit to defeat West Carter in the season opener. Connor Thacker paced the Rams with 23 points and 12 rebounds while hitting all four 3s for the Rams. Charles Welch added 14 points.

 

Raceland welcomes Elliott County Tuesday, visits Lucasville Valley Friday and Morgan County Saturday.

 

RUSSELL 2-0

Russell opened the season with a pair of wins, defeating Menifee County 85-79 and West Carter 73-42.

 

Caleb Rimmer paced the Devils with 22 points while adding eight rebounds. Ryder Burgess finished with 21 points. Tyler Cordial had 17 points and 10 rebounds. Kaiden Benge added 14. Gabe Pridemore finished with 11.

 

Russell meets Lewis County in the EKC Semifinals Tuesday and welcomes Paintsville on Saturday.
