64th DISTRICT

 

ASHLAND 18-7

Ashland went 2-0 this week with wins over Lawrence County and George Washington, WV, 60-52.

 

Ashland defeated Lawrence County, 84-69. Zander Carter paced the Tomcats with 34 points and seven rebounds. Justin Hughes went 5 for 5 from the field and dumped in 12 points. Caleb Clarke kicked in 11. Elijah Neel had 10.

 

Carter led Ashland with 20 points against George Washington and Drew Smith added 14.

 

Ashland welcomes Huntington Expression Prep Monday.

 


BOYD COUNTY 19-9

Boyd went 2-1 this week with wins over Russell and Fleming County and a loss to South Charleston.

 

Boyd defeated Russell, 88-52. Jackson Childers led the Lions with 23 points. Jacob Spurlock finished with 20. Cole Hicks had 19. Ethan Rardon kicked in 13.

 

Boyd eclipsed the century mark for the third time this season with a 109-82 win over Fleming. Hicks led the way with 31 behind nine triples. Spurlock had 29 with seven 3s and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds. Childers tallied a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Rardon netted 14. Rhett Holbrook had 12.

 

Boyd fell to South Charleston, 72-64. Spurlock finished with 20. Childers netted 18. Hicks had 15.

 

Boyd visits Greenup Tuesday and travels to South Laurel on Friday.

 

FAIRVIEW 4-19

 

Fairview went 0-3 this week with losses to West Carter, Phelps, 78-69 and Lewis County, 90-59.

 

Fairview fell to West Carter, 63-41. Eli Shope and Tevin Smith led the Eagles with 10 each. Tanner Reihs added eight.

 

Fairview visits Elliott Monday, welcomes Lawrence Tuesday, visits Bath County Thursday and East Carter Friday.

 


63RD DISTRICT

 

GREENUP COUNTY 9-18

 

Greenup went 0-3 this week with losses to Raceland, Lewis County, 56-54 and Mason County, 69-54.

 

Bryson Chandley led the Musketeers with 13 points in Greenup’s 60-47 loss to Raceland. Kasey Gammon kicked in 11.

 

Greenup welcomes New Boston Monday, Boyd County Tuesday and West Carter Thursday.

 

RACELAND 18-8

 

Raceland went 2-0 this week with district wins over Greenup and Russell.

 

Raceland defeated Greenup, 60-47. Jonah Arnett paced the Rams with 23 points. Connor Thacker had 17 points and nine rebounds.

 

Raceland created a logjam at the top of the district standings with a 67-26, running clock win over Russell. Arnett had 22 in the win while going 6 of 7 from downtown. Thacker had 16. Charles Welch added 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds. The 26 points allowed by the Rams are the fewest ever allowed by a Joe Bryan led team and the fewest points allowed ever in a matchup between the two district rivals. It also ties the fewest allowed when the Rams held Phelps to 26 in 2019.

 

With the win, Raceland, Lewis and Russell all finish 4-2 in district play, which will require the RPI to decide the regular season district champion.

 

Raceland welcomes Bath County Monday, Lawrence on Wednesday and visits Nicholas County Friday.

 

RUSSELL 12-12

Russell went 1-2 this week with a 63-52 win over Bath and losses to Boyd and Raceland.

 

Russell fell to Boyd, 88-52. Caleb Rimmer had 19 in the loss. Ryder Burgess finished with 12.

 

Russell fell to Raceland, 67-26. Rimmer had 10 in the Devils worst loss ever to the Rams.

 

Russell welcomes East Carter Tuesday and visits Rowan County Thursday.
