64th DISTRICT

 

ASHLAND 20-7

Ashland defeated Boyd County, 96-55 to win the 64th district championship. Five Tomcats scored in double figures paced by Zander Carter’s 27. Preston Hoskins added 16. Tyson Lalonde and Drew Smith each kicked in 15. Caleb Clarke netted 11.

 

Ashland will play Elliott County Thursday night at 6:30 in the opening round of the 16th Region Tournament.

 












BOYD COUNTY 21-11


 Boyd went 1-1 this week with a win over Fairview and a loss to Ashland.

 

Boyd defeated Fairview, 89-45 in the opening round of the district tournament. Cole Hicks led the Lions with 18 points while going 4 for 4 from long range. Jacob Spurlock added 15. Ethan Rardon and Jackson Childers each had 12. Childers also grabbed 10 rebounds.

 

Boyd fell to Ashland, 96-65 in the district championship. Spurlock had 29 points and 11 rebounds in the loss. Childers tallied 23. Hicks had 11.

 

Boyd meets Fleming County Wednesday night at 8 p.m. in the opening round of the 16th Region Tournament.

 





FAIRVIEW 4-23


Fairview fell to Boyd County, 89-45 in the opening round of the district tournament. Tanner Reihs led the Eagles with 12 points.

 

Fairview closes the season at 4-23.

 

















63RD DISTRICT

 

GREENUP COUNTY 10-20

 

Greenup fell to Raceland, 47-44 in the opening round of the district tournament. Gavin Herrington led the Musketeers with 14 points. Kasey Gammon kicked in 12.

 

Greenup closes the season at 10-20.

 



RACELAND 22-8

Raceland claimed its first district title since 2018 with wins over Greenup and Russell in the tournament.

 

Raceland’s Reece Hicks drained a game-winning triple as time expired in the opening round to lead Raceland to a 47-44 win. Jonah Arnett led the way with 16 points.

 

Raceland defeated Russell, 53-42 in the district championship. Connor Thacker and Arnett led the Rams with 15 points each in the win. Jake Waller kicked in 11. Charles Welch grabbed 12 rebounds.

 

Raceland completed the regular season with an undefeated slate at home in their 14 games.

 

Raceland meets Rowan County Thursday night at 8 p.m. in the opening round of the 16th Region Tournament.

 



RUSSELL 14-13

Russell went 1-1 this week with an overtime win over Lewis County in the opening round of the district tournament followed by a loss to Raceland in the championship.

 

Ryder Burgess connected on a triple at the end of regulation to force overtime and the Devils never trailed in the extra period for a 73-65 win. Burgess led the Devils with 23 points. Gabe Pridemore added 19. Caleb Rimmer and Tyler Cordial each had 10.

 

Russell fell to Raceland, 53-42 in the championship. Rimmer had a double-double in the loss with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Burgess netted 12 as well.

 

Russell meets Morgan County Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. in the opening round of the 16th Region Tournament.
