Ashland opened the season with a 51-43 win over Pikeville and a 57-29 loss to Portsmouth.
Emilee Neese led the Kittens with 14 points in the win. Brookelyn Duckwyler and Aryanna Gulley had 12 each. Alexis Troxler had nine rebounds.
Addison Wolfe led the Kittens with eight points in the loss to Portsmouth. Neese added seven.
Ashland welcomes Fairview Friday and meets Fairland Saturday at Shawnee State.
BOYD COUNTY 2-1
Boyd opened the season with a pair of wins over East Carter, 67-49 and Pikeville, 60-57 and a loss to Johnson Central, 68-60.
Sophia Stevens led the Lions with 23 points while grabbing eight rebounds in the win over East Carter. Bella Opell added 13 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Jada Ray and Zoey Smith had 11 points.
Boyd County heads to Menifee County Saturday.
FAIRVIEW 0-3
Fairview opened the season with losses to Scioto Northwest, OH, 37-25, Lewis County, 60-25 and Greenup County, 66-33.
Bre Moore had 14 points in the loss to Scioto Northwest. Emma Pierce added six.
Madison Loving led the Eagles with nine points and six rebounds in the loss to Lewis.
Fairview heads to Chesapeake on Wednesday, Ashland on Friday and welcomes Jenkins Saturday.
63rd DISTRICT
GREENUP COUNTY 1-2
Greenup opened the season with a pair of losses to Johnson Central, 76-34 and Lawrence County 63-26 and a 66-33 win over Fairview. No stats were reported.
Greenup meets East Carter Monday in the EKC semifinals and visits Mason County Saturday.
RACELAND 2-0
Raceland opened the season with a pair of road wins, defeating West Carter 57-51 and Prestonsburg, 58-51.
Nim Maynard scored 32 points in the win over West. Allayson Rigsby added nine points. Emma Broughton had eight. Brookelynn Campbell tallied 12 rebounds.
Raceland welcomes Fleming County Friday night.
RUSSELL 2-0
Russell opened the season with a pair of wins over Morgan County, 57-53 and West Carter, 65-45.
Kennedy Darnell led the Devils with 18 points and eight rebounds in the win over Morgan. Gabby Oborne kicked in 17. Bethany Allen added nine points and seven rebounds.
Russell meets Rowan County Monday in the EKC semifinals and plays Covington Holy Cross Saturday at Bellevue.
