64th DISTRICT

 

ASHLAND 7-10

Ashland went 0-3 this week with losses to Boyd, Male, 13-3 in six innings and Ballard, 9-8.

 

Ashland fell to Boyd, 16-1. Aubrey Foster, Jenna Delaney and Zoey Smith had the lone three hits for the Kittens. Delaney drove in the run.

 

Ashland welcomes Boyd Tuesday, Spring Valley Wednesday and visits Fleming Thursday.

 

BOYD COUNTY 13-8

Boyd went 4-1 this week with wins over Ashland, Logan, WV, 16-1, and a pair of wins over Lakota East, OH, 16-6 and 12-2 with a loss to Lincoln County, WV, 10-7.

 

Boyd hammered Ashland, 16-1 while pilling up 20 hits in the win. Savanna Henderson, Elyn Simpkins and Brooke Jacobs had three hits each. Henderson and Simpkins drove in three each with doubles. Kyli Kouns and Lacyn Black also doubled. Simpkins earned the win from the circle, giving up four hits while striking out five.

 

Boyd fell to Lincoln County, WV, 10-7. Jacobs homered and drove in three. Taylor Culp tripled and drove in two.

 

Boyd welcomes Fairview Monday, visits Ashland Tuesday, Wheelersburg Thursday and plays Frederick Douglass and Conner on Saturday at Frederick Douglass.

 

FAIRVIEW 5-5

 

Fairview fell to Martin County, 8-2 in their only game this week. Paige VanBibber and Madison Loving had a pair of hits each. VanBibber doubled. Fairview visits Boyd Monday, Huntington St. Joe Thursday, New Boston Friday and plays Danville Christian and Berea at Berea Saturday.

 

63rd DISTRICT

 

GREENUP COUNTY 12-3

 

Greenup went 2-1 this week with wins over Portsmouth and Raceland and a 3-1 loss to Rowan County.

 

Greenup shutout Portsmouth, 10-0 in five innings. Josey Kegley was lights out in the circle with 11 strikeouts and only one hit allowed. Jaylen Cooper went 2 for 4, homered and drove in three. Kegley added a double.

 

Kegley stymied Raceland with 14 strikeouts and only one hit allowed in a 12-0 thrashing of the Rams. Laela Matthews went 4 for 5 with two home runs, a double and 5RBI. Kegley went 4 for 5 as well with a double and RBI. Maddy Steele went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. Addy Branim added a double.

 

Greenup visits Lawrence County Monday, plays a twin bill with Cabell Midland Tuesday and welcomes Russell Thursday.

 

RACELAND 11-4

 

Raceland went 1-1 this week with a win over Russell and a 12-0 loss to Greenup.

 

Davanna Grubb allowed only two hits and struck out eight in the Rams 11-0 win over Russell in five innings. Ally McMackin went 3 for 3 with an RBI. Carly Fannin drove in three. Kali Vance and Bryna Wellman doubled.

 

Raceland visits Spring Valley Tuesday, welcomes Portsmouth Notre Dame Wednesday and plays in the All “A” State Tournament beginning Saturday with games against Somerset, Clinton County and Trinity (Whitesville).

 

RUSSELL 6-11

 

Russell went 1-3 this week with a 9-5 win over Fleming County and losses to Raceland, 11-0, Symmes Valley, 12-8 in eight innings and East Carter, 4-3.

 

Russell visits Lewis Monday, Greenup Thursday and Bath County Friday.
