Ashland’s 29th Street is buzzing with new energy and Faded Men & Women’s Salon is adding its own spark to the mix! Recently opened in October, this vibrant salon is quickly becoming a go-to spot for both bold styles and simple trims, all while contributing to the revitalization of Ashland’s downtown.
At the heart of it all is Amber Aliff, the shop manager and stylist, who brings both skill and passion to the business. After making a fresh start and moving back to Ashland from Louisville, Aliff was ready to take her career—and her community—into her own hands.
“I’ve been doing hair all my life, but I didn’t start doing it professionally until I graduated beauty school five years ago,” Aliff explained. “When I got clean, I wanted something different, so beauty school was a new outlet that gave me stability and direction.”
Opening Faded in such a beautiful, up-and-coming area felt like a natural step for Aliff, who is excited to bring fresh products and services to the community. Whether you're after a fresh fade or just need a quick trim, Faded has something for everyone. “We really want to cater to men here,” Aliff shared. “There are plenty of options for women in the area, but not as many for men. Whether it’s a scalp exfoliation, a hot towel service, or a sharp clipper cut, we’ve got it covered.”
Faded isn’t just about cuts; it’s about giving people an experience. Aliff is passionate about providing a space where everyone can feel at home, and her team reflects that mission. Tiffany Hemphill, a stylist who joined Faded in November, shares Aliff’s commitment to community and creativity. Hemphill’s experience in the Ashland area has given her the chance to really connect with clients. “I love it here,” Hemphill said. “It feels like sometimes my clients just want to hang out and chat. The community at Faded is truly unmatched.”
But it’s not just men who are getting pampered at Faded. The salon offers a full range of services for women and children, including perms, shear cuts, and kids' cuts. Whether you’re popping in for a quick walk-in or scheduling an appointment, Faded is ready to serve you with a smile. “It’s never a dull moment here,” Aliff laughed. “Honestly, I feel so blessed to be part of it. It’s surreal in the best way.”
Looking to the future, Aliff and her team are excited to grow along with Ashland. Faded hopes to continue building strong relationships with its clients and to expand the services they offer. “I’m just excited to be here, and to grow with Ashland as the city grows. Ever since I moved back from Louisville, I’ve seen our community moving in the right direction, and I’m thrilled to be a part of that,” Aliff said.
