A local Wurtland, Kentucky man … Roger Kaylor has always been fascinated with fixing things. Growing up in Westwood Kentucky, Kaylor, like most young men enjoyed playing sports. But he never lost his fascination with fixing things and now at forty years of age Kaylor has over twenty years of experience fixing nearly anything that can go wrong in people’s homes. He is licensed and insured and doesn’t hesitate a second to crawl underneath a home and fix floor joists or climb on top to fix a roof. He has even framed in and build homes from the foundation up. Kaylor shared, “I do all kinds of flooring and remodeling. But I also do painting, gutters, and anything else to do with a home.”
All those years in the industry have given Kaylor a lot of insight into what it takes to complete a project. But Kaylor is humble enough to realize that some specific things require specific licenses and skill sets. Fortunately, however, his experience has also helped him make connections with other professionals in both his field and related fields as well. Those connections have even inspired the name of his home improvement business … “I Know a Guy Handyman.”
Whenever Kaylor went to obtain a business license, he recalled that, “They asked me what I want to name my business. So, I thought on it and realized that I tell everyone that if I can’t fix it or if it needs a specific license to fix it that I know a guy. So, I said let’s call it that.”
Kaylor shared that his business- I Know a Guy Handyman services has its own Facebook page, and that people can message him there to talk about their projects or they can call him at 606.831.2924. Kaylor is even available if people need emergency assistance like help with a water break late at night. Though he is centered out of the Wurtland, Kentucky area he said that a sixty-mile radius is no problem.
“The first thing people usually ask me is ‘What kind of work do you do?” Kaylor shared that his response has always been “Anything to do with a house. I can fix floors, decks, or pressure wash them. I love all of it!” Kaylor shared that he always likes to look at each job like a challenge that needs to be tackled.
In addition to being a jack of all trades, Kaylor prides himself on keeping his rates affordable for everyone. “I grew up poor and I know what it’s like to try to pay for stuff. So, I try to keep the prices down. As long as I can take care of my wife and three boys, I’m good to go. I love my job, and I love helping people out.” Kaylor stated.
