ASHLAND 10-0
Ashland rolled off four wins this week with defeats of Boyd County, Raceland, Cabell Midland and Pikeville.
Ashland knocked off Boyd County in Cannonsburg in straight sets, 3-0, giving the Cats a big district win over the three-time defending region champs.
Ashland starved off an upset bid from Raceland in a 3-1 win. It was only the third set all season the Cats have lost. Mena Pittman led the way with 15 kills. Sydney Mertz added 10. Olivia Wiley finished with nine. Grace Clark tallied eight.
Ashland cruised past Midland, 2-0 and claimed a comeback win over Pikeville, 2-1.
Ashland heads to East Carter Monday and Fairview Tuesday.
BOYD COUNTY 5-5
Boyd County went 1-1 this week with a win over Russell and a loss to Ashland.
Boyd fell to Ashland, 3-0. Payton Jones had 11 kills for the Lions. Lilah Thornbury finished with eight.
Boyd bounced back with a 3-1 win over Russell. Thornbury led the Lions with 15 kills. Jones kicked in nine along with four aces.
Boyd visits Rowan County Thursday and plays Boone County and Great Crossing on Friday.
FAIRVIEW 4-7
Fairview picked up a pair of wins this week with defeats of Bath County and Rock Hill.
Fairview swept Bath County, 3-0. Makenzi Slone and Madison Loving tallied 11 kills each. Slone and Preslee Hill added five aces each.
Fairview outlasted Rock Hill, 3-2 after falling behind 2-1 in the match.
Fairview welcomes Ashland Tuesday, Raceland Thursday and visits Greenup Saturday.
ROSE HILL 1-9
Rose Hill fell to Greenup 3-0 and Tolsia, WV, 3-1. No stats were reported.
Rose Hill welcomes West Carter Tuesday and visit the Comets Thursday.
63rd DISTRICT
GREENUP COUNTY 9-2
Greenup went 4-2 this week with wins over Rose Hill, Green, OH, South Point and Cabell Midland with losses to Huntington and Paintsville.
Greenup cruised past Rose Hill, 3-0. Lucy Roy and Peyton Powell had nine kills. Hailey Dillow and Kaylee Braden added seven kills each. Powell led the Musketeers with eight aces.
Greenup defeated Green in straight sets. Powell and Braden had six kills each. Powell had seven aces in the win.
Greenup raced past South Point, 3-0. Braden and Roy had eight and seven kills, respectively.
Greenup welcomes Raceland Tuesday and visits Fairview Saturday.
RUSSELL 3-5
Russell went 2-3 this week with wins over Collinwood, TN (2-0) and Afton, TN (2-1) with losses to Boyd County (3-1), Gray, TN (2-0) and Musselman, WV (2-0). No stats were reported.
Russell welcomes Rowan County Tuesday.
RACELAND 6-7
Raceland went 1-1 this week with a 3-0 win over Lewis County and a 3-1 loss to Ashland.
Allayson Rigsby smashed 15 kills and Peyton Mackie added 11 as Raceland rolled past Lewis. Bentley Rogers added four aces and Kody Haddix finished with three more.
Raceland battled with Ashland in a four-set thriller before falling to the Volleycats. Rigsby had a game-high 21 kills. Mackie added eight.
Raceland welcomes South Point Monday, visits Greenup Tuesday and Fairview Thursday.
